Department Background
Based in Wuhan University, a leading comprehensive University in Central China, the Institute was established in 2011 supported by the School of Public Health and the University. In its next-step development plan, the Center will target cognitive health and aging in a global context through multidisciplinary research collaboration, and will focus on capacity building of young researchers in the field of Health Policy System Science (HPSS) through project oriented training and research.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Wuhan University, the Center’s academic leader is responsible for the administration, development, coordination and delivery of all activities particular to the Institute. S/he works with the Institute’s academic committee members to advise and guide on the Center’s strategic development whilst actively promoting awareness of the Center within the international health research community; S/he also cooperate with other related departments across the university and provide mentorship for the other working staff in the institute.
Key Responsibilities
l Support strategic development for the Institute;
l Build and promote partnerships across the university and beyond;
l Share relevant expertise and coach junior researchers and staff;
l Lead the design and development of research projects;
l Dialogue with domestic and international funding source to explore funding opportunities.
Requirements
Essential:
l Doctorate qualification in public health, health policy, health economics or health related disciplines;
l Sound technical understanding of a broad range of health issues;
l Demonstrated ability to develop new initiatives and programmes at the international level;
l Capacities to ensure resource mobilization and creating an empowering and motivating environment;
l Ability to work collaboratively with team members and counter parts inside and outside to achieve outputs;
l At least ten years working experience in HPSS, at national and international levels, including three to five years of practical experience in implementing or advising on key domains of HPSS research projects in lower and middle income countries;
l A very good command of the English language and excellent writing ability, as reflected in a history of high-quality academic articles and works.
Desirable:
l Experience in working in multi-national environment and health partnerships and implementation of research projects related to HPSS;
l Thorough understanding of China context and health reform, Chinese origin will be a plus.
Provision:
1. The salary will vary from 150,000-500,000 RMB per annum in line with the talents recruitment policy of Wuhan University;
2. Two-month paid vacation;
3. An independent office with decent setting;
4. An apartment (rent or purchase at lower price than the market)
5. Negotiable for any other personal requirements
