Job description:  Product Quality Engineer
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Product Quality Engineer to join our team. The Product Quality Engineer will use leadership and active engagement to facilitate the quality into production and supporting departments. Also expected to utilize and apply ITW tools and best known methods to their respective product line. Leads internal change control and ensures compliance to quality standards and processes. This position reports to the Global Quality Director.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:
• Maintain and review SPC in-process parameters and incoming quality inspection. Conduct proper investigation and determine appropriate disposition, documentation, and communication to management team for any data point out of specification/control.
• Lead cross-functional meetings to review non-conforming materials.
• Support Research & Development (R&D) during new product development to ensure all appropriate activities and documentation are conducted.
• Assist in change control process due to RM change such as discontinuation, mfg site move, end of life, etc.
• Manage metrology tools for capability and stability.
• Facilitate root cause investigations utilizing 8D format for internal and external excursions, and communicate results to the management team and customers.
• Set-up, execute, analyze, and interpret DoEs (Design of Experiments).
• Conduct audits both internally and of suppliers, and determine proper corrective/preventative action.
• Create and maintain ISO documents.
• Perform data collection, analysis and create reports for customers, suppliers and Kester.
• Investigate new ideas to improve quality and maintain or reduce costs while increasing output.
• Assist and support in quality systems maintenance (ISO9001:2008).
• Support and lead lean manufacturing initiatives such as kaizen, kanban, in-lining, and 5S.
• Complete monthly KPI reports for both internal and external customers.
• Lead weekly meetings with key customers and suppliers.
• Enforce and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
• Create/update work instructions and procedures, and build training programs pertaining to Quality.
• Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
• Additional duties and tasks assigned.
The successful candidate will have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Statistics or other related science & 3-5 years quality experience in a manufacturing environment. Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
•Demonstrated project management and leadership skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
•Solid understanding of statistics and application to manufacturing processes including statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), statistical hypothesis testing. Experience in an ISO 9001:2008 environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, write, and interpret work process procedures, customer reports, and general business correspondence.
• Experience using APQP, MSA (Meterology), PPAP, FMEA, 8D, root-cause analysis, DMAIC and DOE.
• Proficient in MS Office; JMP and/or Minitab. Up to 15% travel required.
• ASQ CQE certification and relevant industry experience preferred. Knowledge of Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing and 5S a plus.
